To be held at both ends - Klaas Vanhee

What happens when physical grip, movement, and the search for balance become the foundation of drawing? In To be held at both ends, artist Klaas Vanhee presents a series of works that enter into a direct dialogue with Adrien Tirtiaux’s installation Das Trojanische Ding.

To mark the book launch, Klaas Vanhee is building a unique installation featuring a selection of drawings, objects, and a custom-built spraywall with climbing holds sculpted by himself. An exhibition where visual art and climbing come together. So yes: definitely don’t forget to bring your climbing shoes!

More about the creators

Klaas Vanhee (1982) studied painting at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, where he lives and works. His versatile practice encompasses painting, sculpture, installations, video, graphic design, and drawing in particular. Through his work, he gives form to personal memories, stories, and desires in a recognizable, powerful visual language. 

019 is a collectively run platform for architecture, graphic design, and visual art. It originated in 2013 as the nineteenth project of the non-profit organization Smoke & Dust in an old welding factory at Dok-Noord in Ghent. What began as a temporary experiment grew into a permanent venue and a unique way of working. Today, 019 creates exhibitions, public space projects, publications, and research, together with the artists, designers, and makers themselves.
