Under Construction

In the former Government House, you will see a group of contemporary makers for whom construction is the absolute starting point. Metal runs like a common thread through the space, each time in unexpected dialogue with other materials, techniques and stories. 

From visible joints and industrial assemblies to textiles, sound systems and temporary interventions, the exhibition brings together furniture, objects and installations. Some projects begin with craftsmanship and material research, while others grow out of digital techniques, reuse or playful experimentation. 

What connects the works is an attention to how things are made. Their construction, structure and relationships are made visible and legible as an essential part of the design. 

In a place where decisions and structures were once fixed, these designers show how systems can be continuously questioned, adapted and rebuilt. Under Construction shows how materials, techniques and imagination come together to build new ways of making.
