Introlab: Totems for a Post-Digital Era - Benjamin Gaulon & Vincent Valéry

Breaking away from digital systems seems almost unthinkable today. Yet the question is more urgent than ever: how can we relate differently to technology, in a way that serves not only us as users, but also the environment in which that technology exists and eventually dies?

For thousands of years, people have placed vertical structures in the landscape: totems, stelae, obelisks and sacred poles that mark a place or create a connection between earth and sky. Today, the antenna has taken on that role, a technological pillar transmitting signals in binary pulses rather than engraved symbols.

The electroculture antennas of IoLT move between these two worlds: technological totems rooted in the ground and reaching towards the atmosphere, where electronic circuits coexist with living plants. They connect energy and growth, history and speculation, and raise questions about what reuse and care might mean at the edge of digital infrastructure.
