Evelien Bracke - Curator Talk: Collection. Models from the Past for the Future

What once seemed like the ultimate design solution can look very different through today's eyes. But how can a historical museum collection inspire the world of tomorrow?

In this talk, moderator Hilde Bouchez will be joined by curator Evelien Bracke and assistant curators Benoît Vandevoort and Cristina Bargna. They will take you behind the scenes of Collection. Models from the Past for the Future. They will delve into the history of Design Museum Gent as a ‘museum of models’ and show how forgotten techniques, crafts and clever design principles can still feel surprisingly relevant today.

From inventive folding techniques and layered materials to critical questions about comfort, migration and imitation, discover how 500 objects from the collection become a mirror for the future. An inspiring session that challenges you to look beyond the form of an object.
