De wanbetalers - Studio Denkbeeld

Studio Denkbeeld is an inclusive studio in the centre of Ghent where art comes first and makers with support needs develop their own visual language.

With the exhibition De wanbetalers, we showcase and sell their work. Although their talent leaps off the wall, these artists are often not allowed to earn anything in real life. That is exactly where the problem lies, and exactly what we are questioning.

Want to buy an artwork? You can! Provided you first complete form 7B/kunst/aankoop in triplicate (without any mistakes, of course). You may then join the queue at the counter, call our permanently unreachable helpline and hope for a helpful civil servant.

In De wanbetalers, paperwork, waiting times and arbitrariness take centre stage in a playful installation with a bitter edge. Step inside, get lost in the system, admire the art and let yourself be surprised!
