Our vision 

We believe that design is about much more than creating beautiful objects. Design is everywhere and influences every aspect of our lives. Once we recognise that everything has been designed, we also realise that it can be redesigned. That gives design the potential to respond to the ecological andsocial challenges of our time. 

We see our collection and programme as sources of inspiration for imagining better futures. 

 We believe our collection is a rich source of knowledge and stories. These stories can be interpreted from many different perspectives and extend far beyondtheir historical context. 

We believe in the power of collaboration. By bringing together different disciplines, experiences and perspectives, design can become a catalyst for socialchange. 

We believe design affects everyone's life. That is why we strive to be an open and welcoming meeting place for the widest possible audience. 

 We believe Design Museum Gent should inspire, encourage reflection and create connections. We are building a new home for design: an open house foreveryone who wants to play a role in the design process, whether as a user, designer, maker or thinker.

 Through our collection, expertise and programme of exhibitions, festivals, lectures, digital initiatives and public events, we encourage people to shape the future by experiencing design from many different perspectives. 

As Belgium's largest design museum, we place ourselves at the heart of society. We create connections, build partnerships, stimulate critical thinking andhelp drive processes of change. 

 At the same time, we are committed to preserving and passing on our collection to future generations, ensuring that it continues to inspire new ideas and new ways of shaping the future.
