Tour - Stadsmakers

Is a design ever truly finished? And what if the journey towards it is just as valuable? Stadsmakers turns the traditional design process on its head. They transform spaces into a collective adventure, where visitors and users take the lead themselves.

A cooperative place shaped from the ground up. Their site is a living playground for meeting, making and creating together. With shared studios and events that grow directly from collective ideas, they show that creating space is something best done together.

More about the organisation

Stadsmakers is a colourful mix of enterprising enthusiasts: residents from temporary-use projects across Ghent, makers working from studios, and the driving forces behind a cooperative living project.

Its cooperators include organisations and individual changemakers who are building an inspiring future for living and working from the ground up. A future where repairing, renewing and enriching creative, social, ecological and economic systems take centre stage.
