Step into Studio Digitaal
Studio Digitaal explores the world of digital technology and its role in shaping contemporary design culture. Looking beyond the designer's role, the exhibition invites you to rethink how we experience and interact with the museum itself.
Studio Digitaal is located in and around the historic Louis XVI Salon, where the museum's original model museum first came to life. This opening presentation connects past and present by asking what a model means in today's digital world.
What does it mean to model something digitally? And how can algorithmic models help imagine the future without losing sight of the past?
At the heart of the exhibition is Searcher, the result of a long-term collaboration between Searcher Studio and Design Museum Gent.
The goal of these collaborations? To discover alternative ways of viewing our digital collection.
On top of that, you’ll get a unique look behind the scenes: you'll discover how these innovative partnerships come to life and the role that machines and AI play in the process. You’ll get to know various projects that use our data as a springboard to create brand-new work—each questioning our collection in its own quirky, distinctive way.
Get inspired by the dialogue between tradition and technological innovation, and discover how we are shaping tomorrow's world together.
