Your visit, your comfort
Design Museum Gent is accessible to wheelchair users and visitors with reduced mobility. All floors can be reached by lift via the entrance at Drabstraat 10. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets are available on level -1.
Visitors with a disability may bring one companion free of charge.

Did you know a whole lifetime can be hidden in the smell of freshly baked waffles or the sound of rattling cutlery? With our Memory Suitcase, we bring the museum to residential care homes for a rich sensory experience. Together we set the table and share stories about Sunday meals and family recipes.
This activity is only available in Dutch.
Would you prefer to discover the stories behind our collection in a quieter setting? We completely understand. We schedule low-stimulus guided tours at times when no other groups are visiting the museum, allowing you to enjoy the experience at your own pace.

A museum visit can be a wonderful sensory experience, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming, or perhaps not stimulating enough. That's why we offer a sensory toolkit filled with practical resources to help you feel calm, comfortable or more focused. Simply ask for it at the front desk.
Choose your favourite chair, take a seat and start the conversation. In our Chair Circle, you're encouraged not only to look at the chairs but also to touch them and try them out.
Our conversation cards invite you to talk about the chairs, the materials and your own experiences. Which chair do you like best? How does it feel? Which one would you love to have at home?
Design Museum Gent also offers meaningful experiences for blind and partially sighted visitors. Would you like to experience the collection through touch? We are happy to organise tailored guided tours for groups of blind and partially sighted visitors.

Everyone should have the opportunity to visit the museum. That's why we partner with Hartelijke Plekken. You can donate a museum ticket or use a donated ticket yourself for a free visit. Together, we help make the museum accessible to everyone.
In collaboration with Toerisme voor Autisme (Tourism for Autism), we’re creating a clear step-by-step guide. This allows you to preview every part of your visit from home in peace and quiet. You’ll find it right here very soon!
