Sanny Winters – Gent Xtra Bold

Illustrator Sanny Winters was granted the Henry van de Velde label 2014 for the book Belgium Xtra Bold. She was also nominated for Cutting Edge for Best Book Design 2014.

With the book Gent Xtra Bold she portrays Ghent, the city of Artevelde, in 100 colourful and typographically refined drawings. A selection from these drawings is on exhibit at Design Museum Gent. Using her characteristic style and the alphabet as the basis, she dissects the city and its residents and derives from them their essence. Ghent icons, fascinating locations, remarkable facts, and current and historical events are all given a spot of their own.
