Destrøy/Design
A selection from the collection of the Frac Nord-Pas de Calais
The Frac Nord-Pas de Calais (Dunkirk) was one of the first French institutions that drew attention to the role design plays in the evolution of every-day life. By confronting these avant-garde creations with the work of present-day artists, a debate was started calling into question our relation to objects (of art) as well as the influence they may have on society and our immediate surroundings.
Destrøy/design offers an analysis of the unique approach of two different but related domains; the exhibition focuses on the complex relation between the star status of present-day designers and artists, and calls into question the constantly changing position and importance of the object in today’s industrialized world.
